Delta State and REA Forge Strategic Partnership to Unlock $2.9 Billion in Economic Growth through Renewable Energy
The Delta State government has formed a strategic partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to accelerate renewable energy deployment in the region. This collaboration is expected to unlock $2.9 billion in economic value and attract $158 million in investments, supporting the state’s efforts to expand access to clean energy, create jobs, and boost local industries. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori emphasized that the initiative aims to bridge the power supply gap in underserved communities, while promoting sustainable economic development.
Through this partnership, Delta State will leverage the expertise and resources of the REA to develop scalable renewable energy projects, including solar mini-grids and off-grid solutions. The initiative anticipates positive impacts across multiple sectors, with improved access to electricity enhancing productivity, supporting healthcare and educational facilities, and driving socioeconomic growth in the state.
