Circumstances can often change and while living in the co op may work out well in a short term, what happens if we would need to move due to change in employment or health or other issues? Would we be able to sell the home as an individual owner?

Not a problem! A member can sell their share, along with improvements, for whatever they choose. We’ve had several do that in our Utah location — one inherited land elsewhere, another had a family crisis that required them to move away to deal with, one elderly lady’s children pushed her to sell her share because she was developing dementia. Since the economy slumped, a few families realized they really couldn’t afford to build out a homestead and sold their shares.
